“Maybe you need to change your circumstance, or maybe you just need to change your mind about your circumstance”
Jenna Kutcher
There is nothing truer than this statement. Every time I have found myself in a situation where I’m just allowing myself to get consumed with the thoughts, doubt and fear of the situation itself the one thing that has helped me get out of that rabbit hole is changing the perspective I’ve been seeing the situation from.
A couple weeks ago one of our machines in the studio broke down, the one machine that we use to print 95% of our products. My immediate reaction to life situations is to ask myself what that is showing me or teaching me. While this is a good habit to have sometimes I can tend to stay stock in this stage for a bit too long.
I was trying to figure out what the problem was with the machine and I would spend hours every day inspecting, testing, checking and nothing would work. For about 6 days I went to the studio frustrated and anxious because my attitude towards this situation was coming from a place of “why is this happening?” I was pretty much waiting for a divine answer. And while I 100% believe that we have divine guidance every single second of our life, what that guidance ultimately wants to teach us is to find confidence in ourselves and grow with the situations that are presented to us and to show us our own power.
So, after a few days living in this place of “why” I woke up one day and finally realized how I was approaching this situation. I was leaving my power on this external situation. I was hoping for guidance but I didn’t realize that my own perspective in this circumstance was not allowing me to see that I was not taking control over the situation and using my own power.
So, with a completely different attitude I got to the studio, I gave myself a pep talk and to be honest I also had a conversation with the machine that went on like: “You and I are going to work together today. And I know I haven’t given you much attention and maintenance lately and I hear you, I will do it today and you are going to feel so good that you will work again”. So, I got my hands dirty, called the mechanic for guidance, cleaned the press, oiled every single hole, and low and behold after a couple hours of pampering the press, she started working again and has been working beautifuly since.
So, in what circumstance of your life are you leaving your power on external forces? How can you change this situation or your perspective towards it?
